Shox TL "Black"

The Nike Shox TL "Black" is the purist's version of one of Nike's most technically ambitious cushioning concepts. The Shox system — four visible columns of foam in the heel that compress under impact and spring back to return energy — was Nike's reinvention of what running shoe cushioning could be. Not hidden foam. Not an air pocket. Visible, mechanical columns of engineered foam that work like tiny shock absorbers.

The all-black TL execution puts the Shox columns on full display without distraction. The four black foam columns visible through the heel create an architectural, almost mechanical visual effect that was unlike anything before it and has never been fully replicated since. The full-length midsole completes the construction with a bouncy, springy ride that is entirely unlike any other Nike cushioning system.
